DESCRIBE YOUR ROLE
Having worked at New Chapter for 14 years, I’ve had many! From labeling and filling product and making our extracts, to packing and shipping orders, I’ve worn many hats over the years. But my current role includes assembling sales kits, taking inventory and selecting orders. I also handle the literature and other important sales materials that we offer to our many loyal retailers. Having dabbled in so many different roles in the New Chapter warehouse, I also often find myself taking on “odd jobs” because not only do they need to get done but chances are, they involve responsibilities I’m already familiar with.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS CAREER/POSITION OR DID IT CHOOSE YOU?
I had been involved in teaching and coaching gymnastics for most of my life and decided it was time to make a career change. A friend of mine and employee of New Chapter at that time, presented me with the opportunity to work for this great little local business. It was a small company with an admirable mission so I was grateful to take the position.
When I took the position at New Chapter, I was still coaching gymnastics and assumed I would need to give that up. Without hesitation, Paul & Barbi (the Founders) encouraged me to stay involved and never give up anything that I was passionate about. To this day, I am not only happily employed at New Chapter, but I am directing the local gymnastics program.
WHAT KEEPS YOU DOING THIS JOB?
The Founders, Paul & Barbi. To me, they are more than just the Founders of New Chapter. They are my friends and mentors. I trust them. They are there when I need them and they make me feel safe and secure in my life choices. Being around Paul is like being around my dad again. He was an inspirational man who was far ahead of his time. . . . and so is Paul.
