Committed to Sustainability

At New Chapter, we believe in sustainable business practices. New Chapter’s Director of Sustainability and co-founder Barbi Schulick leads this effort. It’s a commitment that permeates every part of our business, from our office compost containers to our sustainable turmeric and ginger farm in Costa Rica.

Sustainable Agriculture
To grow sustainably is to grow organically in a way that preserves the soil for future planting of organic crops – for years to come, for generation after generation. You will find this commitment in action at Luna Nueva, our 200-acre, biodynamic ginger and turmeric farm nestled in the rainforests of Costa Rica. We invite you to discover this sustainable wonder -- check out our Luna Nueva photo gallery or view our Luna Nueva video.

Sustainable Sourcing

When it comes to our products, we are committed to purchasing organic ingredients that are sustainably grown, harvested and processed, whenever possible.

Sustainable Packaging & Shipping
We now use 100% PCR content corrugated shipping boxes within a closed loop system. This means even our own 100% PCR corrugated waste is recycled and returned to us for use again and again. We have also shortened shipping distances by opening a West Coast distribution center, reducing the amount of non-renewable energy consumed and pollutants emitted.

Running A Sustainable Office
You\'ll find sustainable business practices both big and small at our Brattleboro, Vermont headquarters. For example, our recent building addition was constructed using environmentally friendly products. From the wind-power produced business cards we carry to the returned or discarded supplements we compost, sustainability rules at New Chapter.

Taking Care Of Our People

One of our guiding principles is to honor and reward personal growth, for enlightened teamwork depends on the vitality of every member of the New Chapter family. We want to “sustain” our employees so they grow, learn and flourish -- personally as well as professionally. Beyond the traditional benefits, we offer yoga and Tai Chi classes, a wellness program, an employee supplement program designed by founder and master herbalist Paul Schulick, lectures, concerts and even a Costa Rican adventure to Luna Nueva!
