Time to Get Your Grill On
Yay, summer! Sunscreen is on. Days are long. The grill is calling. Speaking of which, if you’re looking to cook something new, check out this grilling recipe. Turmeric Salmon Kebabs are great for a celebration or for anytime. Two superfoods in one = super-delicious.
What is a superfood, anyway? While there’s no clinical definition to this tasty-sounding word, think of it as a food from Nature that’s packed with nutrients known to have health benefits. Wild Alaskan Salmon is a superfood. It’s bursting with heart-healthy Omega-fatty acids (good fats), including Omega-3s. In fact, these Omegas are so important for human health that experts recommend eating fish like salmon 2-3 times a week. (All this is exactly why New Chapter® fish oil supplements are made only with 100% Wild Alaskan Salmon!)
Turmeric is a superfood, too. This orangey-gold rhizome is known to contain 100s of phytonutrients, including curcumin. It’s been treasured by healers for centuries. It’s “super” in the eyes of both modern science and herbal tradition, and it’s really foundational for lifelong health.
Have you had your Turmeric today?
Turmeric supplements are an easy way to get daily support from this noble root. Turmeric Force™ is our one-daily capsule made with whole-herb Turmeric and formulated for optimal absorption. An excellent choice.
Another way to get your Turmeric? Turmeric powder can be added to so many types of food, from leveling up smoothies to slow-cooked curries. But it’s a common misconception that all Turmeric powder is the same. Not so! That dusty yellowish stuff in the spice rack may bring some flavor to your dishes. But make sure you’re getting the type that is easily digestible. What you want to look for is fermented Turmeric.
Fermented Turmeric is consumed daily in Japan, and multiple Asian universities have published studies about this enriched form. New Chapter makes it easy to get the fermented Turmeric advantage. Our artisanal organic Turmeric booster powder is fermented with probiotics and formulated for absorption. We’re talking Turmeric that goes beyond the spice rack, delivering health benefits like heart, brain, and healthy inflammation response.*

How to Make Turmeric Infused Salmon Kebabs
Wild Salmon gets boosted with a flavor-punch from Turmeric and friends.
Prep Time: 15 minutes | Cook Time: 15 minutes | Serves: 2 people
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp neutral oil (such as grape seed or organic canola)
1 T maple syrup
2 servings (1 tsp) Fermented Turmeric Booster Powder
½ tsp ground cumin
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp paprika
½ tsp sea salt
½ tsp dill
¼ tsp black pepper
10-14 ounces Wild Alaskan Salmon filets, skinned and cut into 1-inch pieces
A little prep work: You can use metal or wood (bamboo) skewers for these kebabs. If using wood skewers, soak them in water for 30+ minutes before you start the grill.
Whisk together lemon juice, oil, and maple syrup. Set aside.
Mix together spices, set aside.
Heat grill to 400˚ F.
Assembly time: Next, drizzle salmon pieces with the maple syrup mixture. Turn to cover all sides. Then, sprinkle the spice rub over the salmon. Gently press it into each piece. Thread the salmon pieces on 2-4 skewers.
And now we grill: Place skewers on the hot grill for about 7 minutes on one side. Turn each skewer and grill the other side for about 7 minutes. Remove from the grill. You’re ready to serve!
Do I Have to Grill My Salmon Kebabs?
If you don’t or can’t grill, you can totally adjust this recipe to meet your needs. For example, these kebabs are also delicious cooked up in the oven. For the oven method, you don’t need to soak your skewers. Follow the prep and assembly instructions above, while heating your oven to 400˚F. After you’ve put the kebabs together, arrange them side by side on a foil-lined or oiled sheet pan. Try to leave some space between each kebab so the salmon can cook quickly. Place on the middle rack in the oven for 7-10 minutes per side, until you see the salmon starting to brown. Then serve!
On the Side: What to Serve with Grilled Salmon Kebabs
This part is important—how do you make this superfood delight into a full meal? It’s really the condiments and the sides that make a good BBQ spread, right? Here are a few suggestions to go with your kebabs.
You can serve kebabs with fresh lemon wedges for squeezing. Or mix sriracha with mayonnaise for an easy 2-ingredient dip. (Sriracha-mayo is pretty much irresistible.)
A grill basket of fresh green beans tossed with olive oil can go right next to the salmon kebabs. Or wrap fresh-shucked corn in foil and grill it lightly—there’s almost nothing more summery than grilled corn dripping with melted butter.
Make ahead a batch of classic potato salad, mixed greens with a side of vinaigrette, or a fruit salad with lots of melon. A chilled grain salad, like cooked quinoa with chopped parsley and cucumber, can also hit the spot.
More Ways to Use Turmeric Powder
Great news—there are a ton of other ways to get the most out of versatile Turmeric Booster powder. Many people use it every day to boost healthy smoothies. Or try it in cooling Maple Turmeric Lemonade. You can get even more chill with a Turmeric sorbet.
